What Is A Soul Mate?

What Is A Soul Mate?

If you have found a smile
that is the sweetest one you've known,
If you have heard, within a voice,
the echoes of your own,
If you have felt a touch
that stirs the longings of your heart,
And still feel that closeness
in the moments you're apart,
If you have filled with wonder
at the way two lives can blend
To weave a perfect pattern
that is seamless, end to end,
If you believe some things in life
are simply meant to be,
Then you have found your soul mate,
your heart's own destiny.

Own the day....for you....and them.....

So....the day was so-so....or it sucked for you.  Or didn't suck for you, but sucked for your partner....

Make the end of the day or the time that you know you are going to be together, the best part of the day.

Plan a great meal.  A event for the family.  A personal time for you and him.....whatever...give a promise to the person having the worst day....something to look forward to.  It just makes each day amazing!!  You don't watch special times on TV, you make them for yourself!!

Jack and I are working on our bucket list.  The kids are grown and gone.   Now it is time for us to do all the things we want to do before we climb into our rockers.

A few things on our list:

Montana National Park
(stay for a week)

Fisherman's Wharf

Yellow Stone

Costa Rica

Italy

Disney

We have been to Disney a few times, but we have never been there for a week without children.  So, in 3 weeks, we are going for a week!  I am going to make Jack wear Mickey Mouse Ears.  Jack wants to spend some time in Epcot.  It is time to be a kid again!!

30 Years of Marriage

Well, it all started at McDonald's.  Jack was one of my managers.  I was in High School.  He was 4 years older than me.  He asked me out several times, but always to dinner.  Being a young girl in school, the last thing we did in front of a guy was eat.  So I said no.

My mother took a few calls from him and said he sounded like a wonderful young man.

One day after he returned from Florida, very tan......we had our first official date.  May 15, 1981.  We pretty much saw each other every day after that.  No matter where I was at, on the 15th of every month, I received a dozen roses.  Very Romantic.

2 months later, I asked him to marry me, and he said yes!!

We planned our wedding and we were married on November 6, 1982.  The wedding had several hiccups:
Jack's grandfather and uncle passed away within a week of the wedding
Jack was transfered to Mount Pleasant so the home we were moving into no longer worked (the week before)
Jacks parents both got pink eye
my florist raised the price of the flowers by $300.00 the day before the wedding
Jacks check got lost in the mail
My employer (not McDonalds) would only give me Saturday and Sunday off for the wedding
The cake top was wrong and had to be replaced.
The Best man passed out cold at the ceremony
followed by the groom having to get air while I kneeled at the altar waiting for their return.

Needless to say........we didn't let it ruin our day.  It is now one of the most remembered events.

We decided to have children right away.  We wanted to grow up with them.  We also wanted to be in our early 40's when they were at the end of their high school years.  We only wanted 2 children and were blessed with a girl and boy.  We wanted to keep it at 2 so that we could give them the most we could possibly give them.  Traveling was very important to us.  To get them to enjoy experiencing different places in their life.  Our goal was all 50 states by the time they turned 18.  I believe Chelsea was at 38 and Brian was at 37 states.  Not bad.  We also took them on a cruise to the Bahamas ( not a very good one) so I hope that experience doesn't sour them on cruises.

During their later years in high school, we did everything to make our home open to their friends.  To keep them off the street and make sure their paths did not take them to bad places.  I don't think we really ever had to worry, but we always had a house full of kids.  During the building of our lake house, we continued to be home as much as possible for them.

They both exceeded our expectations in life.  Both college graduates with many other accomplishments to boot.  They are amazing people and we know they are behind us 100% as we are them.  We are so very blessed.

Now so many years later, we are on our own again.  Have been for a few years.  This is an amazing time of life.  I couldn't be more lucky to spend my time with such a wonderful man.  We celebrated our 30th anniversary last year.  I love him more today than the day I married him.

I still get excited to see him at the end of a work day.  I can't wait to spend time with him.  My favorite place to be is wrapped up in his lap, pretending to watch what he is watching.

Life is good.....

Photobucket Life As An Egg.....

I have been dealt my cards.   So far so good with my blood clot.  I am still on blood thinners.  Still going to get my blood taken.  I feel for people that go through health issues more than ever.  This does get to you after time.

The leg pain is still very real.  There are days that I would just like to get up and have no pain.  A day a work without pain would be wonderful.

But I am here....The most amazing change in my life is the man that I have loved for 30 years is so much more important to me today, and I have always cherished this man. I love being his egg. (he started the 'egg' thing)  He has made me feel special, loved, and the reason that I am still here.

He has made everyday a special one and I thank him.

Celebrate Everyday!!

You don't need a special day to celebrate your marriage. Dress up and enjoy everyday. Make plans to keep your life exciting. Ever sit back and wonder why 'they are always doing things'. 'We never do anything' Why are they having fun...'

They are making their fun and you have to make your fun too. What you do with your time is up to you. Get out there and make it happen. It doesn't take tons of money, just a little planning. Maybe you and your significant other can take turns doing the planning and have fun.

Date Night

At least once every week have a date night.  One week you plan it and the next week your spouse plans it.  It doesn't have to be an expensive night, just you two getting out together.  Make sure you take the time to get dressed up and look your best.  This is a night you can look forward to all week.  Make it very special or just dinner out.....Either way it is time to celebrate you.
